Turkey LCC supports Pete and Carol Brett each month. Pete and Carol have been in Turkey for over 20 years and have been based in Istanbul since 2014. They work with local believers and foreign workers across the country, training them to multiply disciples and gather them into groups with the aim of helping to start a Disciple Making Movement in Turkey. Poland Cleres and Jane are from Brazil and have been serving the Lord in Poland since 2002. They adopted Nikodem (Niko b. 6/11/2009) in Poland when he was three years old. They work alongside a church, called The Rock, in Wrocław (pronounced vrahts-wahf). Some of us got to know them when they were training in the UK before going out to Poland and have been supporting them in their work. They are heavily involved in the annual Christian art festival held nearby, which draws in thousands of mainly non-Christian young people, and at which many have come to Christ. Nehemiah Project in Zimbabwe Nehemiah Project was founded in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 2001 in response to the devastating effects of the HIV pandemic. It is a project that seeks to bring the love of God to the marginalised through social action interventions. Ruth and Andy got involved in 2004, taking out short term missions teams delivering “mountain top experiences” to children that the project ministers to on a weekly basis. They moved to Bulawayo in 2011 and expanded the project into other areas, including the establishment of a Community Centre in the high density suburb of Cowdray Park. Their work continues to this day and you can contact them if you’re interested to find out more. Pastor Obert & Kuda Santungwana – Zimbabwe Pastor Obert was the Senior Pastor at City Pentecostal Assembly in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, for over 10 years. During that time he was an influential member of the Board of Trustees of Nehemiah Project. David & Gail Clayton have been supporting Obert & Kuda over the last (nearly) 2 years since they visited Zimbabwe as part of a team from Life Community Church. This is a time of significant change for the Santungwanas and prayerful support and an understanding that there are people not only in Zimbabwe but across the world that are “walking” this journey with them is a great comfort. As a church, our links with Zimbabwe are strong and God seems to be strengthening and broadening them. Pastor Obert and Kuda are moving into a new season in church leadership and as a ministry team we are reaching out to them in prayerful and mentoring support. We very much hope others within the church will also feel able to uphold them in prayer as they move forward in their service of our Lord. Jeevan Asha in India Since its inception, we have had involvement with Jeevan Asha, or 'Life of Hope' which works in underserved communities in Mumbai and Orissa, primarily in the areas of health and education. In healthcare, treatment, primary care and presentative measures are priorities. A basic education can help prepare children for school and harness the potential for education to break the poverty cycle. Since 1999, lives have been changed and nervous tiny tots have become confident young adults who have big aspirations and dreams for themselves and their families. http://jeevanasha.net/ |
